Note: All "Theme" contests are open to ALL entries. However, only models that match the theme are eligible for the "Best of Show" awards in each skill level for that night's contest, and will subsequently become eligible for the "Model of the Year" competition showdown in December.


January 4      Special Contest # 1  Sci-Fi / Real Space / Fantasy / Science. Any subject or scale in the realms of science fiction (Star Wars, Star Trek, etc.); actual (real) space exploration (Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Shuttle, etc.); science subject matter (Dinosaurs, Bugs, Visible Frog etc.); or fantasy, including anime subjects (Gundams, Robotech, etc.)                                                                                                                                                        Non-Points

Information is provided below on the rules of engagement (ROE) for each of the 2008 sponsored contests. Detailed information and updates are the responsibility of the sponsor of these contests. The website will be updated as new information is provided, and covered at ASM meetings. An “As Of” date will be included with each separate contest. Please visit the website often to check the latest info.

To sponsor a contest, please present your idea to any ASM E-Board member. The idea will be discussed at an E-Board meeting, and you will be informed as to whether your proposed contest could be fit into the current contest schedule. Arrangements for judging and awards are the responsibility of the sponsor.

This is a sponsored contest to celebrate and recognize the 65th anniversary of the first major F4U Corsair battles.  Qualifying models may be any F4U Corsair, any variant such as a -1, -1a, -4, etc: any scale; any year; and any nationality.   The winner will be determined by a People’s Choice ballot vote.  I can hear those P&W 2800’s beginning to rev up now.

Any U.S. aircraft from any branch of the service, credited with any air to air kills.  From Korea to present, any U.S. involved conflict or 'skirmishes'.
I.e. 1981 F-14 Gulf of Sidra Su-22 killers, Bosnia conflict F-16 MiG-29 Killer, etc.   Documentation reference or a simple photo of the presented subject is a plus. Awards will be divided up into 3 categories:  1950-1963, 1964-1980, and 1981-Present; Plus a overall best of -  aka "The Dude Award"
