About ASM

Formed in the late 1960’s, Albuquerque Scale Modelers (ASM) is New Mexico’s oldest and largest scale modeling club. ASM is a collaborative and interactive group of passionate hobbyists of all ages and skill levels. We meet once a month to display our newly built creations, hear fascinating tales from guest speakers, and learn from each other through technique clinics and general socialization.

ASM has been a sanctioned chapter of the International Plastic Modeler’s Society (IPMS/USA) since 1983 and is part of Region 10 (Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and Colorado). For more information about, or to become a member of, IPMS/USA, click here. Membership in IPMS/USA provides the opportunity to compete at the regional and national levels and you’ll get great access to modeling content and other national members.

Not only do ASM members meet, compete, and learn from each other every month, the club is active in community. ASM proudly and regularly participates in local events, not only to display models and generate awareness, but to show appreciation for the community and armed services members. Such events include:

Are you a modeler looking for a way to show off your builds? Do you want to socialize and learn from other modelers? Are you an aspiring modeler? Do you want to hone your skills? Are you a history enthusiast and appreciate scale recreations? Then join ASM and share the passion of scale modeling with a great community of members, many of whom are winners at the national level! ASM members build all types of models – aircraft, armor, ships, figures, cars, space exploration, science-fiction, gundam, dioramas, anime – so no matter your particular interest, you’ll be in good company in any of our four skill levels (Junior, Basic, Intermediate, and Master).

Membership information can be found here and is open to anyone regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, or age.
